What if the end of one home's story could become the beginning of another?
In 2022, the clearance of 27 apartments in Turin was transformed into a two-day public event dedicated to reuse, sharing and collective participation.
Rather than being discarded, around 1,500 pieces of furniture and everyday objects were offered free of charge to anyone willing to give them a new home.
The initiative brought together hundreds of people, creating unexpected encounters between objects, personal stories and new owners. What began as a practical need to empty a residential building became an opportunity to question our relationship with things and rethink the value of what we no longer need.
Organised by Permeabile (an interdisciplinary architecture practice founded by Lara Gasparro & Luca Fiammetta), the event explored how a simple act of redistribution could generate social and environmental value.
The unexpected public response attracted widespread media attention, with coverage in both print and digital publications, including la Repubblica and a front-page feature in Torino CronacaQui.
27 apartments. 1,500 objects. 600 people.
A second life for objects, a second home for stories.
